Sorry, you haven’t heard from us in a bit. We’ve been racing on all cylinders for the past several weeks, and taking the time to get online to write seemed to take a back seat to everything else.
We just arrived back home in Australia after a quick 6-week trip to the USA to visit our family and take care of some overdue paperwork, licensing, etc., that had been neglected since the covid mandates. At 61, I’m feeling the jet lag more than ever.
Our last visit was in 2019 when my mother went to be with the Lord. Since then, Angie’s dad and my brother have both gone on to heaven, too. We found ourselves with a window of opportunity to get back over there and see our loved ones and take care of some personal matters that needed attention, so we took it.
It was a whirlwind trip. Angie enjoyed a wonderful week with her sisters and cousin, taking a road trip together to visit the Outer Banks in North Carolina. She also got to see most of her family and some old friends.
I stayed in Indiana, focusing mainly on seeing my family, doing maintenance around my mom’s house, and getting rid of some things that we no longer need to hang on to.
We would have loved to visit with each one of you, but we couldn’t manage it on such a tight schedule. I’d really like to work out a time for a future furlough, but we’ll just have to wait and see how God arranges things for us in the coming year.
Praise:
The Lord gave us many opportunities to witness for Christ as we traveled, and also to encourage believers to stay faithful and continue to focus on pleasing God daily.
I give God thanks that I’m actually starting to feel stronger and more energized for the Lord’s work since all the health battles I’ve fought over the last couple of years.
Prayer:
Thank you so much for your continued prayers. Please don’t give up!
In fact, tomorrow we have to fly back down to Brisbane for another RFA treatment on my throat on Tuesday, July 18th. They want to try to burn the last few spots they missed in their efforts to keep me from getting throat cancer. Please pray that I do not have any complications this time and that everything heals up correctly.
The new school term began this week, along with our Religious Education classes. We are starting with creation and working our way through how God made and kept His promises through the Old Testament, ending with God’s promised plan of redemption.
Thanks:
We have received notes and letters of encouragement, as well as a few extra money gifts in the last couple of months. Thank you! Our grateful hearts offer prayers that our Heavenly Father blesses you for your love and kindness toward us.
Have a great summer, and keep looking up! Our redemption draweth nigh.
Your fellow servants,
Don and Angie Berg
