Dear Praying Friends,
It’s Angie! ☺️ Don granted me prayer letter privileges because I am so excited to tell you what God has been doing that I’m just bursting with love and gratitude—toward both Our Father and you.
I have genuinely felt your prayers! There’s no other way to explain the unexpected strength and provision we’ve experienced these past two weeks since Don told you our current predicament and asked you to pray. Thank you so very much for praying, and please don’t stop!
For those that missed it, we’re facing a sudden transition after nearly 20 years in the same home here in Australia. The passing of our landlord and the resulting need to move has brought many challenges—especially with Don’s health issues. But the Lord has already begun to show His hand in unmistakable ways.
Answered Prayers & Praises
Don has been scheduled for surgery! We were so thankful to receive a call that his hernia operation has been set for August 6th. This was a huge answer to prayer because I honestly believe he would have ended up in the emergency room with complications if they hadn’t gotten him in soon.
God has sent help. A 24-year-old young man we just met when he came to buy an item we listed for sale has been coming every day to help Don with lifting and heavy work—an incredible gift. We can’t express how much of a difference this has made. Please pray for God’s blessings on Joshua and that he would put his faith in Christ, as Don witnesses while they work.
Possible extension offered. The heirs of the estate came back and offered us an additional 3 months to move. We gave a huge sigh of relief. And then they said we’d have to sign a six-month lease. However, after prayer and counsel, we declined the lease for legal and financial reasons. (If we found a place to rent in the interim, we’d be stuck trying to pay rent on both places!) Now we’re in a bit of limbo, waiting to find out if they will still allow us the extended timeline—but we’re trusting God with the outcome.
Ongoing Prayer Requests
Wisdom & Provision. We still have no next home lined up and are seeking the Lord’s direction about where He would have us go. Please pray for His guidance and open doors at just the right time. (Just a thought: If God has blessed you with the means, and you’ve ever considered investing in property in Australia, we’d gladly care for it as grateful tenants! 😄)
Physical Strength & Peace. Don has been working like a Trojan these past two weeks. I’m truly trying not to worry, but I’ll admit—I find it easier to trust God with my own health than with Don’s. I’m sure many wives know just what I mean. There is so much Don wants to get done before his surgery—and even more afterward, when he’ll be restricted from lifting for six weeks. Please continue to pray that he won’t do more damage to himself and that we both will continue to ‘cast all our cares upon the Lord,’ knowing with certainty that He ‘doeth all things well.’
Housing Clarity. Please pray the new owners will respond soon and with favor regarding our moving timeline, and that we’ll be able to plan wisely.
Successful Surgery. Please pray with me for Don’s upcoming surgery on August 6th. While it is pretty standard for some people, Don is high risk because of his previous heart and throat procedures. We are asking the Lord for the right surgeon, God’s guiding hand, and no complications. (And that Don won’t be stubborn during his recovery and try to do too much too soon. 😉)
We know this is just a season—but your prayers are carrying us through it. We feel surrounded by the love and strength of God’s people and upheld by His promises. I’ve often thought of 2 Corinthians 5:7—“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” And that’s exactly what we’re doing—stepping forward day by day, even when we can’t yet see the whole path ahead.
We’re celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary on August 3rd, and I’m still so honored and grateful that God chose to allow me to be Don’s wife and serve the Lord together with Him for all these years. We believe God will make a way, even in the wilderness (Isaiah 43:19), and we’re so thankful to have you walking beside us in prayer.
So often we pray for missionaries in distant lands and wonder if our prayers are making any difference. I feel it is SO important that you know and understand that your prayers ARE making a difference. Your financial support has been a blessing over the years, and we are humbly grateful for every penny sacrificed and sent, but it’s your prayers, dear brothers and sisters —that’s the real gold. Please don’t stop!
We need continued strength, peace, and wisdom, and most of all, a clear sense of His will for our next steps. We love you all very much!
With heartfelt gratitude,
Angie (for both of us)
