I am persuaded that He is able...
...to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that day.
It’s been a long month, as some months inevitably seem when you go through trials, storms, or battles. Knowing we had you bowing with us in prayer and receiving your notes of encouragement, blessed our hearts and helped us to calmly face each new fiery dart fully clothed in the armor of God.
God has been working in both of us (and others in our church) as we stand for honesty, accountability, and adherence to the truth of His Word. The Christian life can sometimes seem like a minefield with hidden devices and pitfalls in unexpected places. I am learning to slow down and take each step more carefully so that I am walking in the steps of the Savior, and not veering off onto my own path by following my fleshly instincts.
While seeking His wisdom in dealing with opposition, slander, and malicious intent, we also must be clothed with humility. There is an ever-present temptation to become proud or self-righteous, knowing that we are standing in the position of truth and right. Only by God’s grace can we walk in both humility and truth at the same time. God is truly able to do this work in us and through us if we will yield to Him and submit daily.
For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
2 Timothy 1:12
Please do continue to keep us in prayer as this current battle has not ended for us. God is doing a good work in restoring peace, joy, and unity to those whose spiritual eyes have been opened. The last few services have been especially sweet, though our hearts are saddened by the absence of those fallen prey to deception.
Angie and I have talked about the importance of praying for our enemies and blessing those who curse us. We want to ‘bless, and curse not.’ I’m trying to be especially careful in how I even word this letter since it is in the public domain. God knows all the particular details, so we don’t need to spell them out for you. We have no desire to destroy anyone’s reputation or hurt them.
On a note of praise, God has been encouraging us greatly through this trial by giving us open doors for more opportunities to serve Him and witness in our community. It’s almost like the pruning of a tree brings forth more fruit. I’ll write more about that in a future update.
We hope you truly realize that you all are our ‘home front supply chain’ and we cherish your love and prayers for us. Please continue to ask God to give us wisdom, understanding, strength of character, humility, grace, forgiving hearts, love, and endurance.
To be honest, the promise of ‘entering into His rest’ is sounding better and better each day. ☺️ We love you guys!
With grateful hearts,
Don and Angie
