Sometimes you just have to laugh and trust, even when you feel like moaning and groaning.
Sorry for the longer gap between updates. We’ve been fluctuating between being super busy and being sick, injured, or otherwise, and sometimes the paperwork gets pushed to the bottom of the list more often than it should.
We’ve had multiple challenges in the last couple of months but also witnessed again the amazing grace of Our Great God as He has provided protection, strength, healing, and endurance for us and for those we serve. Thank you SO MUCH for your faithful prayers that make a significant impact on our daily lives.
And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10
I can’t say we’ve reached the level of Paul where we can say that we ‘take pleasure’ in our infirmities, but we can at least say that we can accept them as He allows them and can attest to the fact that when we are weak, we are made strong through Him.
Prayer & Praise:
Religious Education Classes - The classes continue to go well. We were able to give out 52 Bibles to the 6th grade students and teachers so far this year. One of the non-RE students came up to Angie during lunch break and asked if he could have a Bible, too. She explained that we are only allowed to give them to students in the RE classes but if he could bring a note from his parents giving permission, she would be happy to give him one. The following week he arrived with note-in-hand to get his Bible, even though he still isn’t in RE class. Please pray for this young man and his family for their salvation. Special thanks to BEAMS and those of you who support this ministry in sending us the Bibles to put into the hands of Australian people. The students made these posters to express their gratitude.
Our Health - Thank you for the continued prayers for our health. At my last throat procedure in February, I told the doctor I wanted to take a 6-month break from the treatments. He did another biopsy and agreed I could put it off until later in the year and we’d assess again at that time. In March we both caught an upper respiratory virus going around. Angie recovered in about a week, but it seems to have taken hold on me and I can’t shake it. It took another lady in our church 6 weeks to get over it.
Our Senior Saints - One of our dear ladies went to be with the Lord just after I last wrote. Jo Goulding was 10 days shy of her 98th birthday when she went to heaven, and she was still passing out tracts until her last couple of months when she became bedridden. We praise the Lord that she is in the presence of the Savior. Her memorial service was another opportunity to share the Gospel message with many lost in attendance.
Tyler Hockey - Thanks so much for the prayers for Tyler’s healing after his burn accident. God answered your prayers and has almost zero scarring.
Protection - We rarely have any accidents, so it was quite a surprise when first Angie, and then I, ended up in a ditch on separate occasions two days apart. They were both ridiculously freak accidents, and we give all glory to God and His team of angels for keeping us AND our vehicles safe. We often wonder how often we have avoided close calls or near misses because of His care and attention and we don’t even realize it. We were both very aware this time and are so grateful to Him.
Okay, that’s it for now. Please keep us in prayer, particularly at the moment that I can get rid of this chest infection. May God richly bless each of you in the coming weeks and months. Thank you again for your friendship, prayers, and support.
Your fellow servants,
Don and Angie Berg
