This month, our church celebrates 50 years since the building was built and the church was established here in Mareeba. The meeting room was overdue for a fresh coat of paint to mark the occasion. Those who were able came together for a working day and did an amazing job refreshing and renewing our ‘auditorium’ with paint, as well as steam cleaning the pews.
The results look great and have lifted everyone’s spirits. I wish you all could meet and enjoy the fellowship of the wonderful people we serve here in Australia. They are a blessing, and we love them greatly.
Just after the working bee, Angie and I headed off to America for a quick visit to deal with some projects in Indiana as well as hoping to make some progress on selling her jointly-owned family property in Ohio.
There are almost 48 acres of mostly industrial land, and it’s becoming a financial burden that we would love to have resolved. The whole situation is a bit tricky and not as straightforward as it could be. We would really appreciate your prayers that God would provide us with at least one motivated buyer and a unity of spirit among the family for getting it sold.
If you happen to know any developers or real estate investors who might have an interest, please feel free to send them our contact info. We need God’s help on this. It would be a big burden off of Angie’s heart and mind.
I wish we had time and the ability to visit more of you while in the States, but I am still struggling quite a bit with my health. Please keep the prayers going for strength and healing.
More Prayer and Praise Points:
Ron Farrah - in Australia (89) currently in hospital with kidney issues
Adrian Cotton - in Australia (82) struggling with severe pain and debilitation from the effects of stroke and neuralgia, etc.
Jim Hill - my good friend and neighbor in Indiana. Jim has been such an encouragement and example to me this visit. He is dealing with his own serious health issues, but has taken it upon himself to deliver wheelbarrows of firewood so I can sit outside at night by the firepit because he knows how much I enjoy it.
Amanda Hill - another good friend in Indiana (not related to Jim) who has debilitating health issues. Amanda is a young Christian but is exhibiting such a strong faith in the Lord and trust in Him through her struggles that she encourages me in the faith when I visit.
We feel like we’ve entered a new phase in our life - old age! It’s hard to believe that I have officially reached social security age and Angie rejoiced in her first ‘seniors’ discount at Goodwill last week. 😄 The older we get, we notice different challenges and hurdles to accomplishing what is needed.
The Lord hasn’t given us any definite indication of a change in direction or ministry at this point, but we are always seeking His will so that we will be obedient to His leading.
Thank you again for all of your love, friendship, prayers, and support. We enjoy hearing from you and pray for God’s richest blessings on you as you serve Him in your own family, church, and community.
Your fellow servants,
Don and Angie Berg
